Lexington Minute Men Participate in Commemorating 250th Anniversary of the Battle of White Plains

On October 24th and 25th, 2026, the Lexington Minute Men joined over 1100 reenactors to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Battle of White Plains in New York.

The original battle occurred on October 28, 1776, approximately 21 miles north of New York City near the Bronx River in present day Winchester County.

In the battle, British and Hessen forces numbering about 13,000 attacked 2000 to 3100 Americans defending Chatterton Hill.

Though George Washington was forced to withdraw his troops from the battle after Hessian troops broke through the American right flank, allowing the British to gain the hill, Washington’s army stayed intact.
