LEXINGTON — The Lexington Minute Men, alongside hundreds of reenactors representing British and colonial soldiers, will participate in a series of events that recreate the sights, sounds and stories of the American Revolution at the Redcoats and Rebels event, which will be held on Aug. 2-3 at Old Sturbridge Village in Sturbridge.
Reenactors portraying soldiers, artisans and civilian camp followers will create an immersive experience for visitors to experience revolutionary times, including drills, musket and cannon demonstrations, fife and drum music, and battle reenactments. The experience will be supplemented by authentic military encampments and artisan craftspeople, who will demonstrate traditional everyday tasks of the past, such as cooking methods and crafting of everyday items.
The Lexington Minute Men are the American Host Unit for the event, joining and leading about 23 other American units in battle reenactments and demonstrations. The Minute Men are hosting alongside His Majesty’s 10th Regiment of Foot, who is the British Host Unit.
“We are honored to once again be a host unit for an event that unites groups of passionate reenactors representing all facets of the American Revolution,” said Captain Commanding Steve Cole. “It truly is a storytelling experience, painting a complete picture of everyday revolutionary life. We are eager to connect with visitors and grow their curiosity and passion for history.”

About the Lexington Minute Men
The Lexington Minute Men are the second oldest independent military organization in the Western Hemisphere, having been chartered by the Governor’s council on Sept. 6, 1689. The unit was the first to take up arms against Great Britain on April 19, 1775, on the Lexington Common.
Today’s Lexington Minute Men are dedicated to honoring those brave patriots, our first veterans, who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation’s freedom — from those who first fell on Lexington Common to the heroes of today. They promote patriotism through ceremonies, reenactments and educational living history programs, and are currently the only such group to do so by bringing to life the specific individuals who fought and lived through the Battle of Lexington and the American Revolution.
