Lexington Minute Men Honored with Essex Heritage Pioneer in Partnership Award for Role in Organizing Battle of Bunker Hill 250 Reenactment

BEVERLY – The Lexington Minute Men were honored to be part of a group that was given the Essex Heritage Pioneer in Partnership Award for our role in the Battle of Bunker Hill 250 reenactment at Essex Heritage’s Fall Annual Meeting on Thursday, Oct. 16.

The Battle of Bunker Hill 250 reenactment was held on June 21-22 at Stage Fort Park in Gloucester and saw over 20,000 visitors to the event, which included over 1,000 reenactors and three battle reenactments each day.

The Lexington Minute Men were one of the primary organizers of the event and the American host unit. Other reenacting groups included the 1st Regiment of Foot Guards, 2nd Massachusetts Regiment, and 10th Massachusetts Regiment. The groups worked together to organize over 1,000 reenactors from approximately 10 states, creating the battle plans for the reenactments, organizing the overnight encampment for hundreds of reenactors, laying out the park for the event, working closely with community and city officials to ensure the event was a success, and performing many other tasks and roles.

The Pioneer in Partnership Awards are given annually to individuals and organizations in recognition of their leadership in building partnerships that preserve and enhance the heritage of the region. Recipients exemplify the spirit of cooperation and goodwill and have fostered initiatives that benefit the historic, cultural, or natural places of the Essex National Heritage Area (Essex County).

Essex Heritage annual meetings typically draw over 100 local stakeholders, including elected officials, businesses, educational institutions, and local cultural institutions.
