Saturday, April 17—Parker’s Revenge, Battle Road and Tower Park

Parker’s Revenge 8:00 am
You must be on Lexington Common by 8:00 am. There, we will inspect arms and be addressed by Captain Parker and Reverend Clarke before marching off about 9:00 am to the site where the men of Lexington ambushed the King’s troops on their return from Concord. We will conduct a ceremony at the site consisting of a three volley musket salute and inspiring words from Captain Parker and Reverend Kemper. We will then march on to Hartwell tavern where we will lunch prior to the engagement on Battle Road. Bring a lunch with you in your knapsack or snapsack. Try to make it look as close to an 18th-Century meal as possible. Also make sure you carry a full canteen of water. Note: do not carry any ammunition with you. The block in your cartridge box must be empty. The National Park will be supplying all ammunition for Parker’s Revenge and Battle Road. Our muskets will be inspected again at Parker’s Revenge by Park safety officers, so make sure they are clean, in good condition, and all screws tightened. No smocks, full gators, or striped socks. Clothing guidelines will be strictly enforced.

Battle Road 1:00 pm
Lexington will be featured in this year’s Battle Road on MMNHP as never before. No more struggling through brush and brambles and over stone walls for us.  Instead, we will march into the Hartwell Tavern area prepared to encounter the Redcoats on their return from Concord, but will be surprised and dismayed to find civilians still occupying Hartwell Tavern with the Redcoats just a short distance away. We will hurriedly escort the women and children to safety while at the same time fending off the Kings troops in a fighting retreat. Following this we will again attack as in the past from the secluded area to the southeast of Hartwell and help drive the Redcoats from the field. Thus we will be front and center for the crowd like no other unit.

Tower Park 4:00 pm
Following the battle you should fill your canteens and make a bathroom stop before boarding busses at Lincoln North to be dropped off at Munroe Tavern. There we will receive ammunition. Then, our assignment will be to attack the front of the British Column.

After the battle you should board the first bus—the one furthest down Marrett Road from the museum driveway—to be transported back to St. Brigid’s.

Sunday 04.18.2010
The famous Midnight Ride of Paul Revere is re-enacted by members of the Lexington community and Lexington Minute Men. It is enacted at the Hancock-Clark House in Lexington MA.

Monday 04.19.2010
